Lovin’ Games Daily

And here is the daily digest of game news. (In this case not related to TGS).


The PlayStation blog revealed today the track list for the upcoming PS3 title, SingStar Dance. It looks like a decent list with a good ratio of pop and hiphop.

After a relatively short run in the MMO business the game All Points Bulletin is now shutting down their servers. I actually liked this game and had a lot of fun with it but after a while it became pretty repetitive. Too bad to see a game, and company, with good potential goes down. More Mafia 2 is coming soon with a new DLC which was announced recently. The new DLC goes by the name of “Joe’s Adventures” but no specific release date was mentioned.

The game Pirates of the Burning Sea is soon joining the ranks of Free-to-Play MMO’s and will use the usual model of microtransactions and advertisement. (Link)

Mortal Combat producer Sean Himmerick slipped in an interview with IndustryGamers saying that they have a PSP2 and they are testing it for use with their games. So looks like the 3DS is not the only handheld in the horizon. (Link)

On the PlayStation blog you could find an article written by Namco Bandai’s Laili Bosma where he was talking about their release of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. (Link)

An article with THQ CEO Brian Farrell was posted at 1UP yesterday were he discussed their findings with the usage of an activation code for online play in their game UFC Undisputed 2010. Their findings telling them that there is a lot of selling and buying of used games. Not that this seems like a shocking revelation since there are plenty of stores that does this.

President Obama promotes Education through gaming with a “Video Game Challenge” where developers get to compete for great prizes to get their game out to the market.

Microsoft Game Studios announced some numbers for some of their games for Xbox. The most astonishing numbers were from Halo: Reach which generated $200 million in one day. (Link)
